Steve. Thanks for the consistently excellent podcast. It’s informative, entertaining, and important for anyone thru-hiking or backpacking even for just a few days.
I was intrigued by the discussion with Suzanne Dixon of the ATC. Suzanne mentioned there are many good independent videos but also some with misleading content. Suzanne also mentioned the possibility of working with producers and that she likes to create partnerships.
Since it would be a heavy lift for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy to make dozens and dozens of videos, why not have video producers apply for an ATC Video Certification. ATC could even encourage certain topics, video lengths, and specific content. Once reviewed if the video meets the criteria it is ATC Certified for say a year or two. And the producer can say so on their You Tube page. There are plenty of ways to do this and I’d be happy to discuss with Suzanne.
I’m probably one of your first listeners each week as I enjoy the podcast on my daily train ride from Baltimore to DC each day.
Keep up the good work and best to you on your upcoming AT adventure.
