The Marine
I grew up camping in tents, in Northern Minnesota, in my early years. Every year. My family and I, would venture north to the promise land. And it was during those years. I grew a deep love for the great outdoors. In 1978, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Because of my MOS. I was sent to many schools like: Jungle environmental survivor school. And also( which they called a winter package ) in the Sierra Mountain Range. Near Bridgeport California.
The first time using a hammock was over 20 years ago. The ENO single nest. Because it was a short hammock. I would try to crank the suspension as close to a 0° angle. To get that flat lay. In which I was luck to have never broken the suspension. Or my neck. I learned ( the hard way ) that if you lie asymmetrical. I was possible to achieve a flat lay. But a big problem was that my foot would hang over the side. Then when the Double Nest came out. I than learned ( the hard way ) that a gathered end was for only one person. At that time. Because of the size. We would use the hammock at camp for kicking back. Or to take a nap. And sleep in the tent at night. Which lead me to the search for the perfect hammock.
